All Africa.com develops, collects, and circulates news and information dedicated entirely to the issues and events taking place in Africa. In association with other prestigious and other reputable media companies like the BBC and Radio France Internationale, All Africa has created a vast network of quality news and information.
Modern technological advancement in programming and network infrastructure has expanded end user’s ability to access All Africa’s content, increasing simplicity, and compatibility across different computer systems and languages. These technological steps have allowed All Africa to compete and thrive in the rapidly increasing information super highway providing viewers with current and localized information. Decreased technical site maintenance problems have now opened info about a region of the world that had been technologically isolated from the rest of the modern world.
The impact of aggregating over 130 different local African content providers, not only gives an inside perspective on the issues and events that shape the political and economic landscape of Africa, but also has increased both international and domestic pressures of political leadership to be held accountable for policies and actions that have adversely affected African societies.
Because of the costs and time required to maintain, aggregate, and produce professional and credible news content, a portion of All Africa.com is offered and promoted through subscription, providing a larger and more localized premium service of content and archives.
All Africa has been acknowledged as an emerging leader in African news and information, receiving several distinguished service awards from top media companies including Yahoo and Amazon.com. Such widespread recognition in addition to the shear magnitude of regional information available on the website merits any subject enthusiast to utilize the valuable alternative viewpoint All Africa provides.

AllAfrica.com is an expansive news source and, from what I can tell, is the definitive source for news pertaining to the African continent. The AllAfrica.com website posts over 800 stories daily in English and French and over 850,000 articles are available through their searchable archive. I believe that you have to pay for a subscription to get some of the archived content.

Allafrica.com compiles news stories from 125 news sources located on the continent and 200 governmental, nongovernmental and other organizations from around the globe (the majority of which are from Africa, Europe or the U.S.) on all things African. (It should be noted that this count includes both English language and French language sources and so is somewhat deceivingly high). Lists of, and links to, sources are provided. The African news sources include government and opposition-controlled papers, as well as independent, professional news publications. All content is unedited. The site is easily searchable by country, region, or topic. It is updated, though not completely revised, daily. It is unclear how allafrica.com decides which stories, and from which sources, to highlight, but it is in any case an exhaustive starting point for researching African issues. Owing to the great variety of sources, the reporting, language and impartiality are really inconsistent from piece to piece. The diversity and access to local news sources however, probably make sifting through everything worth the effort.
